As a Staff Product Designer, I led the design of a new AR-style grocery feature in the DoorDash app, making online shopping feel like browsing real aisles.
To build the pilot, I visited 10 Southern California stores, filming four key departments—fish, produce, meat, and snacks—and translated this into an immersive mobile experience. I combined competitive analysis of AR/grocery apps with on-site research to ground the design in real user behavior.
I created a tokenized Figma component library to streamline aisle layouts and collaborated with engineers to ensure performance at scale.
The result was an interactive aisle view where products scale naturally as users “walk” through, with tap-to-detail flows for nutrition and add-to-cart.
Impact: Early testing showed greater user confidence choosing fresh items and increased cross-category browsing. The reusable design tokens cut design-to-dev turnaround significantly and set the foundation for future automation and personalization.
